Values

In our world today, there are certain rules and values of which we live by. The National Football League, or as many people know it, the NFL, has strict rules in place to not only protect the players, but also protect the values that they began with. The NFL has an association devoted to allowing the players to voice their opinions to the NFL directly. The NFLPA, or The NFL Players Association, has evolved in a sense over the years, with different players bringing changes to not only the association, but the league itself as a whole. One player that has stood out to me in the league today is J.J. Watt. He is, to put it lightly, the perfect NFL player. He works hard on the field, but works even harder off the field. He works with companies and organizations to make the world a better place, and uses his platform of football to further pursue his aspirations. He works with the NFLPA to help get other players involved in helping their respective teams cities, and the world as a whole. I find that football players, and professional athletes in general are some of the hardest working, and caring characters. They hold these values close to them, and the NFL’s values as well, and use it to make decisions in their lives accordingly.

  2. Hello, Will! My name is Ms. Blair and I have been observing your classroom for the past few weeks. I will also be student teaching in your class this winter. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your classmates throughout this school year!

In your post, you briefly mention that different players often bring changes to the NFLPA and the NFL as a whole. How might these reflect a shift in the organization's values over the years? Do individual players have the power to shift these values?
